So I've been away for a little bit. I've had lots going on for weeks/months now, and the blog has taken a back burner. The main development was after a long journey trying to conceive number two, we finally did it! I'm more then halfway done with the pregnancy even! As such, I've been thinking a lot about this blog and what I want it to be. If you've been following on Twitter, you've probably seen more then a couple giveaways for cloth diapers! That's just one more step our family has taken toward a more frugal and provident lifestyle. We mainly got into it for this next little one, but since my 2.5 year old daughter is refusing to potty train, we decided to try them out on her, and I got to say I am in absolute love. It's way easier then I ever imagined, and wish I had started it from the beginning.
So in other exciting news, I've become an affiliate with my favorite cloth diapering site, Diaper Junction. They have had some awesome sales and have awesome customer service. They also have a cloth diaper trial program if you aren't ready to dive the whole way in yet. Also for a limited time: Shop Diaper Junction to save $5 off your first $50 order - Use coupon AFL550 - Some restrictions apply. They also have an awesome giveaway going on right now that you can find HERE. They also have an awesome Twitter party coming up where you can win all sorts of goodies including an xbox kinect pack. You can find out about that HERE.
You've probably also noticed I haven't had a lot of trip posts. That's mainly because I just haven't found anything I need to rush out and get. Maybe it's me, but the sales haven't been great lately. When I have gone to the store, it's usually only for one or two items if it's Publix or the staples if it's at BJ's.
Also fun and exciting was this was the first week we got our CSA produce box, and I have to say the $30ish a week it costs is well worth it. This week we got: one avocado, five tomatoes, a big bunch of scallions, one egg plant, one bag of beet roots, a big bunch of cilantro, a huge bunch of kale, a huge head of lettuce, a big head of broccoli, and a big bunch of arugula. Even better is it is all organic! Obviously this comes with a few challenges because some of these foods I've never used before (kale), but hey it will be fun to expand my recipe collection to include more produce!
Things I'm already planning for this week menu wise: sloppy Joes (to finish up some produce I already had), eggplant parmigiana, zuppa toscano, and some sort of mexican dish if the avocado finishes ripening. Anyone have some good uses for kale?
So what's happening with the blog? Well I'll probably use it to post some cloth diapering adventure stuff, new recipes, as well as some recipes for things I've started to make instead of buy. All the old stuff will still be around, but not so much of a schedule anymore. :-)
